My name is Gary D. Smith, and I am the founder of Inchoate Life, a nonprofit organization based in Tuscaloosa, AL. Our journey began in 2024 with a simple yet profound idea: to redefine senior living and empower our elderly community.

Inchoate Life was born out of personal experience. Watching my mother struggle with dementia and witnessing the challenges our family faced in providing adequate care left an indelible mark. We realized that existing resources—both financial and human—were insufficient. It was time for a change.

At Inchoate Life, we believe that being a senior citizen should not signify “sun-down.” Instead, it should herald a new day—a chance to live life to the fullest. Our mission is clear: to enhance the quality of life for our clients and ease the burden on their families.
